Transposition

He reached up and touched her chin with his index finger. She returned the gesture, common enough between us parent and child, especially at moments like this: any transition as in graduation from college or a wedding, or transposition. He'd sought to delay his daughter's transposition, but one can delay the rising or setting of the son for so long. So too is a woman's transposition a part of the natural order of all living things.
