Authority Figure

Hermit crab crawls across the scrabble, pokes the inert man. Man blinks, sits up, yawns and stretches.

“You can’t sleep here,” says the crab.

Man blinks again. Picks up the crab, places crab on his palm at eye level.

“You can’t sleep here.” Crab points his claw at the man’s face.

“I could eat you,” says the man.

Crab pinches the man’s nose. Man screams, drops the crab, runs away.

Hermit crab, having retreated into his shell, extends an eyestalk out the opening to check its surroundings. Seems safe enough, crab crawls its way back across the scrabble.

Seagull swoops down and snatches up a tasty hermit crab meal.
