Each January he sets to the task of pruning. All the old catalogs and other junk mail goes into the recycling, a good cleaning of the place from top to bottom, followed by checking all the clothes. Anything unworn from the last year goes in the donation box. Anything worn out gets tossed. Next comes the book shelves. Finished books end up donated. Still to read are kept, but those books being avoided also have to go. All the food in the kitchen is checked for freshness dates. Almost all email deleted. Then comes the synapses. Memories rechecked and ranked. Those deemed important are stored in long term memory, anything else is forgotten. Always good to start the new year with a fresh outlook.
