Long Day

It has been a long day, and while all days are long now, this day above others has distinguished itself as particularly worthy of the title. The words tripped from his mind, down his arms, and out through his fingers. Not literally, of course, but real in the virtual sense, he relayed instructions for the computer. Check the perimeter, secure the wind turbine for the coming storm. You could live a long time without some resources on this planet, but without power, no other resources would keep you alive long enough. It always came down to power: how to generate it, store it, access it, sell it. The selling, ah that’s what he lived for, the buying and selling of power. Some of that even related to energy, though not all, especially when it related to his brother, heir apparent to the vast estates of their father, the prince.
