We know so little about those who live underground. Brief sightings as they exit their cavernous dwellings in search of food or to relieve themselves only tells us about their life away from their preferred habitat. The few expeditions under the earth to observe the creatures has yielded scarce information beyond witnessing a few fire-lit ceremonies whose purpose remains a mystery. Are these denizens of the soil sentient, or is their cerebral capacity more equivalent to that of a domesticated animal or perhaps one of the great apes? Do they bond in family or clan groups? Is their mating habit exclusive or more generalized? Only time, and more observations, will tell.
