House Always Wins

Three cards on the table. Under one of them is the ace. If it’s still on the table. Of course it is. Isn’t it? His hands moved so fast. Switching or not switching positions, holding two then one then hands moving without cards. Can his hands move faster than the eye? How did I get here? So much money on the table. If I don’t guess right, I’ll lose it all. Shit. I’m not this stupid, am I? Just three cards. Left, middle, right. My eyes tell me it was the one on the right, but how can I be sure? One out of three. One guess and I’m okay, take my money and leave. Wrong guesses under the other two. Two of the for sure are wrong. Maybe one of them is right, but which one.

“That one.”

The dealer smiles.
