Alien Abduction Story

She started telling the story, well practiced, about alien abduction, but she found she didn’t have the heart for it. The falseness of it left her hollow somehow, as if the aliens had abducted her and scooped out her insides and replaced them with something lighter, a balloon maybe, filling up the interior, keeping the shape but without a structure. She hoped he would try to kiss her, that the braces on his teeth would spring out and pop the balloon filling her insides, letting the alien air escape, leaving her thin shell to collapse to the floor. Maybe she was the balloon, maybe it wouldn’t be her shell on the floor, the remains of her life before the abduction, maybe she was really the elastic vinyl scraps left over after escaping the confines of a fleshy cage.
